I´m taking a master’s degree in biotechnology with a specific interest in using systems medicine and bioinformatics to solve the challenges of the future. Specifically I´m interested in immune dysregulation leading to chronic inflammations as this seems to be the cause of many diseases. One of my key motivations is pinpointing the processes behind these dysregulations instead of just treating symptoms.
My Project:
Title: Extending a logical model of psoriatic keratinocytes to represent degrees of disease severity
The goal of this master’s project is to investigate whether transcriptomics data from psoriasis patients can be used to cluster the patients in groups, by disease severity. Data analyses of the differences between the severity groups (finding differentially expressed genes and key pathways) will be used to guide model refinement of an existing logical model of psoriatic keratinocytes. Using a pipeline to personalise the logical model towards the different severity groups is also a goal of this project.
